Game Changer: Skill for the Kill

‘Game Changers’. Two words used to describe the people that dare to challenge the status quo. Those that dare to do things differently, betting on ideas that are so daring yet intuitive, making simpletons wonder why things weren’t done this way all along.

In recent times, I have come across many ventures led by such daring people, who not only have the potential to make money, but also change the game for everyone around them, setting a new example of how things should be done in their respective industries.

Today I shall be talking about a company in the domain of gaming: StateSpace

———————————————————————————————————

StateSpace

StateSpace is an e-sports venture based out of New York, New York.

What it does:

StateSpace provides a training platform for First Person Shooter gamers to help players diagnose and improve their weaknesses.

Why is it a Game-Changer:

StateSpace is like a gym trainer for e-sports gamers, allowing them to: 1) Practice their skills in their AIM Lab product, which mimics the environment of the games that a player plays, and 2) It also diagnoses a player’s weaknesses and allows them to improve upon them.

StateSpace is also trying to create a standardised metric to measure a gamer’s skill, similar to the Scouting Combine used in the NFL. If StateSpace is successful, it would usher in a new era of matchmaking, where players are not just matched based on matches played or their Kill-Death Ratio, thus leading to enhanced player experiences in-game.

Concerns:

Game makers such as Epic Games and Valve could take notice of these elements, and incorporate such courses into their own games, so that users would not have to rely on similar environments to learn and practice.

How I found this company:

I found this company while going through recent Venture Capital deals on TechCrunch and Crunchbase.
